Welcome to Downtown Steamboat Springs
Often referred to as Old Town, the area has become one of the more desirable neighborhoods in Steamboat Springs. Old Town is a mix of modest bungalows and cottages that are being replaced with new homes as the older ones become run down and snapped up for remodel or scrape and rebuild. Lots tent to be smaller and unless fortunate enough to have a “double lot” the houses can be close to one another. Families and young professionals are mostly drawn to the area and a sense of community exists among them.
Two steams run through Old Town; Butcherknife and Soda Creek babble sometimes very close to the homes that were built before zoning required larger “setbacks”. The big draw to Old Town is the proximity to Main Street with most locals walking or biking to the restaurants and shopping downtown has to offer. The Downtown itself has become vibrant with restaurants and boutique shops on Main Street as well as Yampa Street. Where else can you sit and enjoy lunch while watching trout fishing and tourists tubing in the summer or ski jumping in the winter at the world famous Howelsen Hill. As the picture above suggests ---there is a ski resort practically downtown!
