Resources for creating a dream mountain getaway

steamboat springs vacation

The mountains are alive with fall colors right now, but soon they will be blanketed in glimmering snow. The changing seasons are truly spectacular to watch here in Steamboat Springs, and the word is out. People love to come here year-round to enjoy the scenery, natural resources and incredible outdoor recreation.

As we gear up for ski season, many people are making travel plans for ski vacations in Steamboat. The slopes officially open on Nov. 24, 2016, and you can purchase your lift tickets here. If you visit before the resort is open, however, you will still find plenty of activities, entertainment, great food and more to keep you busy.

Below are a few good resources to use as you plan your Steamboat Springs vacation:

Resort website. Visit the Steamboat resort page for information about the resort and mountain itself, including winter and summer activities and tickets.

Chamber of commerce. The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association offers links to events, lodging, maps and more for visitors. You can also request to receive a complete Steamboat Visitors' Guide.

Vacation rental sites. To experience Steamboat in a more homey location, and to get a taste of what it would be like to live in Steamboat full- or part-time, consider a vacation rental home. Start your search at VRBO.com, airbnb.com, or homeaway.com, among others. Renting a condo or home often means more room and saving money on food because you have an on-site kitchen.

Travel reviews. A great place to research lodging and activities is from other travelers. People like you who have visited a destination can offer honest opinions and feedback on sites like tripadvisor and VirtualTourist.
