Spring is a fantastic time to show and sell your home. Warmer weather motivates buyers to look, and many buyers aim to find a new home in spring and summer because it makes moving easier.
If you are planning to sell soon, it's time to do a little spring cleaning to show off your home in its best light. Start with these tried-and-true tasks. Just a little time and effort can go a long way toward attracting buyers and selling your home more quickly:
Add life
Spring is a great time to boost your home's curb appeal. Plant a few spring flowers. Pansies are cold-hardy and can add a touch of mood-boosting color. In fact, science has shown that flowers have a positive impact on mood, and you want your buyers in a good mood when they walk up to your front door. If you don't have the time or inclination to dig in your yard, even a few pots of tulips or other blooms can liven up walkways and porches. Be sure to add a few to your foyer as well.
Clear out
Trim trees and overgrown shrubs, rake leaves and tidy your lawn. Then move inside and clear out any obvious clutter in each room. Try to view each space as if you were a visitor. What would someone new notice first in a room? If it's a pile of clutter, then that's what needs to go.
Add light
Spring is a perfect time to wash your windows (or hire someone to do it). Clean windows let in more light and make your home feel more alive and inviting for buyers. If some rooms are still a bit dark, add floor and table lamps.
Think small
In each room, are there small repairs and simple touches you can add to make the area feel fresher and newer? New towels or trash bins in the bathroom, a freshly scrubbed stove in the kitchen or a tasteful new throw in a bedroom can help an entire space feel cleaner instantly. You want your buyers to walk into each room with a sense of its possibility, and anything dingy or broken will distract them from that.
